Foundational Skills

For Ages: 8 weeks to 16 weeks at the start of class

(If you have a shy, nervous puppy 20 weeks or under, reach out to discuss which puppy class is right for you)

Puppyhood is an exciting and crucial stage of development, and starting off on the right paw makes all the difference. At this age, everything is new—and sometimes a little overwhelming—for your pup. That’s why our class focuses on thoughtful, structured socialization to help them feel safe, confident, and curious as they explore the world around them.

In a calm and controlled environment, we gently introduce your puppy to new sights, sounds, people, dogs, and other novel experiences. This early exposure lays the foundation for a well-adjusted, happy adult dog.

To keep everyone safe, all puppies must have begun their vaccination schedule before attending class. We can’t wait to meet your pup and help them grow into their best self!

For Ages: 4 months to 8 months

Set your puppy up for a lifetime of success with this essential life skills class! Designed for growing pups, this class focuses on building a strong foundation of positive behaviors through fun, engaging training.

We cover the basics every puppy needs to thrive at home and out in the world, including:

Welcome to the “teenage” stage—where your dog is no longer a puppy, but not quite an adult. Between 6 months and 2 years, dogs go through big developmental changes. You might notice selective listening, regression in training, or new, puzzling behaviors cropping up. It’s all totally normal—and this class is here to help you through it.

Designed specifically for adolescent dogs, this class focuses on building the skills and connection needed to navigate this tricky transition with confidence and clarity.

Some of the key areas we cover include:

We start with food searches to build confidence and focus, while also teaching you the handling techniques and observation skills needed to recognize those subtle “I found something!” signals from your pup. It’s a fantastic way to tap into your dog’s instincts, while strengthening your bond and communication.

Ready to take your dog’s sniffing superpowers to the next level? In this advanced version of Nose Games, we’ll build on the basics and shift the focus from food to target scents! This class is perfect for dogs who already love using their nose and are ready for more challenge and structure.

Dogs will learn to search for a specific scent (like anise or clove), and each week, we will build drive and precision in their searches by working through a variety of searching skills (a different focus each session, like new environments and container types). We’ll introduce more complex hide placements and help teams start reading subtle dog behavior changes during scent work.

Whether you're thinking about getting into the world of scent sports or just want to engage your dog’s natural instincts in a fun way, this class is a great next step.

For Any Age!

Is your dog a natural sniffer—or just ready for a new challenge? Our Shed Antler Class is designed to engage your pup’s most powerful sense: their nose! In this class, dogs of all skill levels will learn to search for and locate shed antlers in a fun, safe, and structured environment. Using positive reinforcement techniques, we’ll guide your dog through scent work exercises that build confidence, focus, and mental stimulation.

This class isn’t just about finding antlers—it’s about strengthening the bond between you and your dog. As your pup hones their tracking and problem-solving skills, you’ll learn how to read their cues, reinforce desired behaviors, and celebrate successes together. Perfect for pups looking for a rewarding activity, this class provides both mental and physical enrichment while encouraging natural instincts in a safe and supportive setting.

For Any Age!

dog reactive and anxious which led Magen to learn several behavior modification training protocols and pattern games. Her youngest dog has taught her the value of patience and slowing down, building trust with your dog, and working from a place of consent, cooperation, and compassion.

Magen spent a decade as a college professor and test prep teacher and tutor. She also tutored students while in high school and undergrad. She loves coaching and teaching humans as much as she loves working with dogs, which is vital since most of dog training is training humans to train their own dogs.

Magen is a member of The Pet Professional Guild and is a Force-Free and LIMA compliant trainer. She is also Pet CPR and First Aid Certified!

Magen’s first dog training experience was in the mid 1990s when she was in her early teens. Her family became puppy raisers for future service dogs for the blind. Magen attended training classes with the future service dog, was actively involved in training outside of classes, and brought him to school with her. Her family continued to raise future service dog puppies, providing her with a solid dog training foundation she continued to build on when she adopted her own dogs.

Magen currently has two dogs, who are very different from each other and have helped her grow substantially as a trainer. Her oldest dog is
