WHY DOG DAYCARE?

There are many benefits for bringing your pup to daycare. Instead of being home alone all day, your pup will have lots of fun playing and getting some great exercise! This helps your pup's overall health and allows your pup to burn off any extra energy. Pups Unleashed is a great place for your pup to make new friends and socialize with other dogs too. 

POLICIES

All dogs must be at least 4 months old to attend daycare.​

  • Younger puppies are still growing and may not be physically ready for the active daycare environment.

  • At this age, they also haven't completed their full set of vaccinations, which helps protect them—and the other dogs—from illness.

Once a dog hits 6 months (or older) they will not be able to attend daycare until they are spayed or neutered

  • At this age, hormonal changes begin to occur, and intact dogs often start to experience unwanted attention or even bullying from altered dogs in the group.

  • While we understand that it's often recommended to wait a bit longer before spaying or neutering, especially in larger breeds, our daycare policy prioritizes the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care. Because of this, intact dogs over 6 months of age will need to take a break from or wait to start daycare until they’ve been spayed or neutered.

We require that all newly adopted dogs have been in their current home for at least one month before attending daycare.

  • This gives them time to settle in, adjust to their new environment, and build trust with their family.

  • Jumping into a busy daycare setting too soon can be overwhelming and stressful for pets who are still adapting.

VACCINATIONS

All pups are required to provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations: 

  • All pups 6 months and older must be spayed or neutered

  • DHLPP (Distemper)

  • Rabies

  • Bordetella/Kennel Cough Vaccine ​

  • Negative fecal test result within the past 6 months

  • Proof of flea/tick preventative i.e. Frontline, Nexgard, Simparica, etc.

  • H3N8 Canine Influenza (Highly recommended)

​SAFETY & HEALTH

While we're serious about fun, safety comes first. All pups must first undergo an Temperament Test (15-30 minute appointment), where our team can see your dog's temperament, play style, how he or she interacts with other pups, etc. This is to make sure that your pup is a good fit for Pups Unleashed and will enjoy it here. Once your pup is given the green light to attend daycare, our team will continue to observe your pup's temperament when they attend so that all of the pups have a fun and safe play environment.

Healthy pups make happy pups. Owners are required to certify that their pup is in good health and has not been ill or exposed to any illness in the last 30 days in order to attend daycare at Pups Unleashed.​

GETTING STARTED WITH DAYCARE

Ready to get the ball rolling for daycare? Follow these simple steps to get started!
 

1. Click the “Reserve Now” Button

  • ​Head to our homepage and click the Reserve Now button to begin creating your account.
     

2. Create Your Account

  • ​Once your account is created, you will receive a welcome email with instructions on:

    • Submitting your dog’s vaccination records

    • Scheduling and preparing for the temperament test
       

3. Complete the Temperament Test

  • All new daycare dogs are required to complete a temperament test before joining group play
     

What to Expect

The temperament test is a 15–30 minute appointment where we:​​

-- Do some light handling

-- Introduce your dog to a few other dogs

-- Make sure they are comfortable and confident in the daycare environment
 

During the test, we ask that owners wait in their car or run a quick errand so their pup can focus and settle in without watching for them.
 

Scheduling Information
 

Temperament tests are only scheduled in the mornings, when the dogs are calmer and more welcoming to new arrivals. We do not offer afternoon tests, as pickup time tends to make the dogs more excited and distracted.​​

4. Send Vaccination Records

  • Once we receive your dog’s vaccination records, we will reach out by email to schedule the temperament test.

    • Emily manages the temperament test schedule, and because she is not always in the office, email is the best way to ensure scheduling requests are handled promptly.
